Motor Glider
Field Manual
This is not a wiki rewrite. It combines OGDiddo's live PUBG telemetry with techniques learned through extensive Motor Glider combat.
Telemetry and field experience are deliberately separated. Numbers show their sample size; tactical observations are labelled as OGDiddo field notes unless independently verified.
Match-level telemetry records
Average 6.2 km per flight
88 per 100 flights
132.4 average damage per flight
Highest recorded flight-session speed
What actually gets kills from the air
Flight activity
Sample size is part of every claim
The guide separates full flight telemetry from fuel telemetry. Flight totals use all tracked Motor Glider sessions. Fuel and range estimates use only matches with enough fuel samples to calculate consumption, so the fuel sample is always shown separately.
OGDIDDO FIELD MANUAL
How the glider becomes a weapon
These are practical combat principles, not official PUBG mechanics. They describe how OGDiddo actually flies, hunts and survives. Where a precise game threshold is unknown, the manual says so instead of inventing one.
Takeoff by feel
There is no single takeoff number. Read the spawn, terrain and threat first. A slight downhill can help acceleration. On difficult spawns OGDiddo can roll onto a wing and use the aircraft's momentum and thrust to help it leave the ground. Avoid aggressively pulling the nose up before the glider has enough energy.
Altitude is a resource
Around 120–140 m is OGDiddo's practical all-round combat zone: high enough to retain options, low enough to return effective fire. Climb for travel, survival, DMR/SR fights and ground-fire avoidance. Descend aggressively when hunting with AR/SMG/LMG or finishing a weakened target.
Keep ground targets ahead-right
OGDiddo prefers the target on the right side, ahead of the aircraft, while holding a stable usable distance. The firing window is strongest before passing overhead; once the glider is directly above the target, the shot becomes much harder.
Pursue, deny, overtake
The primary air-to-air pattern is to get behind the enemy glider. When its pilot switches seats to fire back, hold an angle that makes the return shot difficult. Then gain a small positional/height advantage, switch to the second seat and take the firing window.
Kill the pilot
In air-to-air fights the priority is the pilot, with the head as the intended aim point—not the engine or airframe. OGDiddo has also observed that very low enemy altitude can prevent an Air Target Destroyed / No Fly Zone medal, so he may allow the target to climb before taking the shot. The exact altitude threshold is not claimed as an official PUBG rule.
Return fire is defense
When a ground player opens fire, OGDiddo usually answers. Return fire is not only offense: it forces the shooter to react and can reduce the quality of sustained fire into the pilot or aircraft. Height remains the second defensive tool, especially against automatic fire.
DECISION MODEL
Choose altitude by mission
Height is stored energy and maneuvering room. OGDiddo changes it according to what the glider needs to do next.
WEAPON DOCTRINE
OGDiddo's choice vs telemetry
Personal preference and measured kill output are different evidence. The live rankings above show what the dataset records; this is the pilot's field choice.
Automatic: M416 and AUG lead the preference, with ACE32 and Beryl M762 behind them; 9 mm weapons are less preferred. Distance: Mk12, Mini14, Dragunov, SKS, Kar98k and M24 are all considered highly effective. Heavy automatic weapons can produce spectacular kills, but OGDiddo considers their spread and practical reach less consistent from the glider.
ADVANCED / FUEL
Blue Zone refuel
When fuel will not last through the final rotations, OGDiddo may deliberately leave the safe zone, land on flat ground with visual cover, refuel, take off and return to play. He budgets healing for the operation; in his experience this can cost roughly five bandages.
Situational technique: Blue Zone damage changes by phase. This is a field tactic, not a guaranteed safe procedure.
PILOT ERRORS
What new glider pilots get wrong
01Fighting the aircraft. Not feeling its momentum and aerodynamic behavior.
02Pulling up too early. Trying to force a fast takeoff by pitching the nose too high.
03Living too low. Giving away altitude, escape options and maneuvering room.
04Flying straight while pursued. Letting the attacker settle directly into the rear blind zone.
05Choosing spectacle over consistency. Carrying weapons whose spread/reach makes repeated airborne hits harder when more controllable options are available.
THE ADVANCED LAYER
Glider Sense
“The biggest skill is feeling the flight itself.”
At high experience, control becomes predictive: understanding how the model will move, what speed it needs and which maneuver creates the next advantage. OGDiddo's goal under pursuit is not merely to escape, but to reverse the fight and become the pursuer. The mindset is equally aggressive: losing the aircraft only means another match and another glider.
Measured continuously
Flights, distance, time, speed and activity grow automatically as matches sync.
Separate fuel sample
Range and consumption use only matches with enough fuel telemetry, never the entire flight count.
Evidence + experience
Weapon, distance, headshot, pilot and air-to-air evidence can be compared with the field manual above.
